Blanket Rezoning of Calgary All citizens of Calgary are urged to get informed and submit their comments to the City of Calgary on the proposed Blanket Rezoning of Calgary. The City of Calgary has several planning and rezoning initiatives underway. We strongly advise citizens to attend the upcoming information sessions on these planning initiatives, which are scheduled to go to Council Hearings in 2024 and thus be enacted into law. The City of Calgary is proposing to implement citywide rezoning to a base residential zone of R-CG (Residential Grade Oriented) which would allow single-detached, semi-detached / duplexes, townhouses, secondary suites, and rowhouse-style housing in every neighbourhood. For compliant applications, this will remove residents’ ability to object to and appeal multifamily developments on adjacent lots. This item goes to the City Council for a public hearing on April 22, 2024. Online feedback is accepted till March 17, 2024.
